ECE4014 & ECE4015 & ECE4723
Weekly Status
Report Email
Before 11:59:59pmET
each Tuesday evening, one Weekly Report email message should be sent from each
student project group. The email will contain your
weekly status report.
We need for each
multidisciplinary group containing at least one ECE student to submit a Weekly
Report via email in the format described below.
We use this to confirm your group affiliation and participants, advisors, and
indication of progress. It is hard only the first week.
Weekly Email Details
Send email to
your project Advisors(s),
ece4012report@ece.gatech.edu (archived copy),
and all group members using the members' Georgia Tech email addresses.
(Yes, the ece4012report... address
is a hold-over from a prior course incarnation.)
List recipients in a fashion so that
hitting "Reply All" on an email client provides everyone with the
reply. So that no one spoofs your group, only email from GT accounts will be
taken seriously for all deliverables.
Edited to suit your group's specifics,
your subject line should be of this format:
ECE4XXXyyy: Group
Number: Project Name: Weekly Report
Replace the XXXyyy to reflect your
course section.
Your
group number should be defined by instructors during the semester's second week
and placed on the course web site as registered students, design groups,
and any changes are identified.
Following the example below and so
that we uniquely can correlate participants with teams, the email message body
should list content on the same unformatted text line for each team participant
in this format:
Whit Smith EE ws35 whit.smith@ece.gatech.edu
404-894-2800
which includes
the participant's name
their major (e.g. AE, CE, BME,
CmpE, EE, ME, MSE...)
their GT Account Name (sometimes
called GTNUM or GT Username (e.g. Dr. Smith's is ws35, not to be confused
with Student 9-digit GTID numbers)
their preferred Georgia Tech
email address (which for some students is not of the same form as their
GT Account Name),
roles: identify your team's Group
Leader using the words "Group Leader", you are welcome to include
other roles
If you want to include additional
contact information (e.g. telephone numbers) for each participant, that
is not required but is fine and usually helpful following the required content
above.
If you do not indicate team roles
by your Week 2 report then the Group Leader role may be randomly assigned. Your
Group Leader is likely to be contacted regarding Expo registration after Capstone
Design Expo administrators begin the semester planning.
Place report contents in the body
of your email message (not as an attachment) with URLs encouraged in lieu of
attachments. Should you feel the desire to include large attachments, post the
file somewhere online then include the URL as a clickable link in your message.
Courteously small attachments are fine.
Brevity and clarity are desirable.
Adhere to the format suggested in the sample email message below so that we
do not loose you.
As with your Proposal, your Weekly
Reports are written with what you know at the time that you write them.

Problems
Don't even think about saying "none". There always are
problems. If the word "problems" is too scary, use "challenges".
Current Status
We now have a working cyclotron which we intend to modify to
produce non-lethal isotopes. Once we have prices for all the
additional widgets and determine whether or not they exceed our
budget or whether we can get a donation, we shall propose to our
instructors that we proceed with the primary widget modification
plan. If too expensive, we shall generate another plan using
purple widgets or propose a predominantly software solution. The
fire extinguishers have been recharged.
Task Status: Actions on last week's Action Items
We decided to meet outside of class at 3:30pm on Thursdays at
Starbucks..
George found prices and delivery times for all parts except for
the orange widgets.
Billy Bob and Georgia visited Northside Hospital and measured the
ATM machines' cash content.
Planned Tasks: Action Items for the upcoming week
George will find the prices for the orange widgets.
Georgia and Billy Bob will finish the proposal by Saturday.
We all shall review it prior to our next Weekly Report.
Billy Bob will contact the FAA to determine the environmental requirements
and if we can visit an airport.
Upon arrival of the hospital bed mechanical drawings, Georgia will
modify drawings for our new wheel.
